The resort town of Courmayeur lies at the foot of Mont Blanc, one of the most
famous pleasure mountains in the world. The hill is divided into two groups
of slopes, the Checrouit and Veny, and have a total of 65 km (23 mi) of groomed
slopes of varying degrees of difficulty. The village boasts a lively nightlife
and several amenities including 24 mountain restaurants, a movie theatre, shops,
medical and health centres and spa and fitness facilities. The ancient valley,
once populated by Romans, is watched over by many medieval castles and fortresses,
and Chamonix and the famous Vallee Blanche is just a short glide away.

Pila is reachable by cable car from Aosta, and is a family-friendly hill offering
a variety of runs for beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders. The resort
encompasses a deep, sunny bowl looking up at Mont Blanc, Grand Combin, and the
majestic Matterhorn. Several ski schools take place at Pila each day, and lessons
may be taken in private or in groups. Most resort hotels are within walking distance
to the lifts. Snowboarders enjoy the challenging half-pipe.
